Speaking to Superscommesse.it, former striker Jeda analyzed the Scudetto race in Serie A, focusing on the comparison between Inter and Lazio, the two teams currently tied at the top.
On the performance of the Biancocelesti, his judgment is clear: “Certainly, Lazio is the big positive surprise of this Serie A. No one expected such an exploit from the Biancocelesti. I believe the main credit goes to Gattuso, who has managed to create a group, transmit enthusiasm to the players, and take advantage of many favorable situations for the team.” The former striker also mentioned the tensions between the fans and the president as an element that, paradoxically, could motivate the group: “It would still be nice and important to have the fans at the stadium every Sunday, but at the moment that’s not the case.”
Jeda acknowledged the work of the Biancocelesti coach, attributing to him the ability to build “a real family” despite the difficulties. However, he specified that Lazio is not yet on the same level as Inter: “The Nerazzurri are ahead, they have a strong and well-tested team, many quality players, and a much deeper squad. I wouldn’t be surprised, however, if Lazio managed to go all the way and fight for an important goal.”
The clearest statement, however, concerns Inter itself. According to Jeda, the Nerazzurri start from a clear position of advantage over their rivals: “I think that at this moment Inter is absolutely the favorite. The Nerazzurri have a superior squad in terms of depth and quality. It’s a well-tested team, with players who have been playing together for a long time, to which important elements have been added exactly where they were needed. Inter has a very clear identity and style of play.”
However, from this solidity also comes the only risk that the former striker sees: “I therefore believe that, at this moment, the only real opponent for Inter could be Inter itself. Excessive confidence or a touch of arrogance could represent a problem.” Jeda concluded with praise for the Nerazzurri club: “I also congratulate the club for having the intuition to choose a coach who, in my opinion, is managing the group very well.”
