“We have this dream: to win the Champions League, it’s the ultimate goal. It’s not easy, we know that, but we’ll give it our all.” With these words, Zielinski publicly set Inter’s seasonal objective, receiving the Gentleman FairPlay Award yesterday in Milan. The Polish midfielder was not the only Nerazzurri representative present at the event: Dimarco and Marotta were also with him.
According to Corriere dello Sport, a strong and clear message about the group’s ambitions has been coming from the Nerazzurri locker room for weeks. The newspaper highlights how at Inter they are now used to not hiding their seasonal objectives: after winning the Scudetto and Coppa Italia, the players are not hiding their desire to raise the bar.
Zielinski himself, now a leader of the Inter group, reiterated the concept: “We want to show our quality in Europe, we have a lot of it. We have a very strong team, so we can go all the way.” This position is also shared by Akanji, who told Mediaset after his last match with Switzerland: “I won’t settle for just winning the Scudetto and Coppa Italia like last year, I want to win everything.”
Chivu’s team therefore approaches the European season with declared ambitions, supported by voices that, according to the Roman newspaper, have been circulating in the locker room for several weeks.
