The statements by Petar Sucic at the end of the match between Croatia and Spain have sparked a debate about his future at Inter. According to Corriere dello Sport, the Croatian midfielder hinted that he would like to have more playing time with the Nerazzurri, fueling rumors of a possible departure from Milan.
These impressions were further reinforced by the words of Boban, president of Dinamo Zagreb — the club from which Inter purchased the player — given to Radio anch’io lo sport: “It’s clear that he doesn’t feel comfortable. In my opinion, Chivu doesn’t see him as he deserves. If things continue like this, I don’t know how much sense it makes for Sucic to stay at Inter, he is one of the best midfielders in the world.”
However, the position of the Milanese club appears clear. Inter, according to Corriere dello Sport, is not considering the possibility of a transfer: Sucic is considered a high-level midfielder, engaged in a normal growth process. On the 25th of this month, he will turn 23, an age at which it is natural not to have yet expressed all of one’s potential.
The Croatian’s qualities have already emerged, but consistency in performance has been lacking at times. With the national team, where he is almost always a starter, things are different: a sign of how the confidence gained through playing time can affect performances. However, Inter’s midfield is numerically rich, and rotations are inevitable. In the upcoming matches, with a busier schedule, Sucic — so far present in 5 out of 6 matches this season, with 2 starts — should accumulate further playing time.
