Speaking in the Sky Sport studios just minutes before the kick-off of Roma–Inter, Compagnoni commented on the match. The journalist stated: “I had a small suspicion, which turned out to be unfounded, that Gasperini might field Pisilli instead of Soulé. The fact that he chooses the Argentine could be indicative of how Gasperini wants to play the game.”
Regarding Inter’s attacking department, Compagnoni emphasized how in decisive matches Lautaro and Thuram always play. “Inter have three potential starters in attack, but when there are decisive matches, it’s always them, Lautaro and Thuram, who play,” he said.
Regarding comebacks in the league, the journalist observed: “Chivu could also say: ‘If we win these matches starting from 0-2, imagine when we don’t have these bad approaches.’ Let’s say that in Italy you can afford it, in Europe you can’t. Inter cannot have a Champions League like last year, they are obliged to have a great Champions League and with this I don’t mean they necessarily have to go all the way.”
Compagnoni highlighted which mistake is most concerning: “If I were Chivu, the mistake that would worry him is the one against Udinese, the one against Real Madrid is a blatant blunder that he will hardly repeat. Let’s see how it goes after the October break and before the November break, that’s when it will be decided.”
