Demetrio Albertini analyzed Milan‘s season and their title ambitions in an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport. The former Rossoneri midfielder outlined a realistic picture of the difficulties awaiting the Devil over the course of the season.
According to Albertini, Milan’s priority must be a return to the Champions League, a goal that is anything but guaranteed. “They have to play to get back into the Champions League, which is already a difficult objective. There are six teams for four spots: Inter, Roma, Napoli, Juve, Como, and Milan,” explained the former player.
In the title race, Albertini sees two teams clearly ahead of the others. “Inter and Roma are ahead of everyone, fighting for the Scudetto. Milan should at least try to stay as high as possible and dream,” he stated. Despite this, the former Rossonero urges his old team not to give up on their ambitions.
On the transfer market front, Albertini acknowledged the club’s efforts: “Even the transfer market was Champions League level.” As for the Europa League, Milan are not among the favorites but can compete. “In the Europa League, they are not favorites but yes, they can go far. Europe is always a formative journey,” he concluded.
