Andrea Ranocchia analyzed Inter‘s performance against Real Madrid in the Champions League, focusing on various aspects of the match and the team. The former Nerazzurri defender, interviewed by Tuttosport, spoke about the team’s reaction after the initial disadvantage and the work done by the coach.

“It was a strange match, of course the two episodes that allowed Real Madrid to go 2-0 up had a huge impact, but the reaction was that of a great team. I think Chivu should be happy and pleased to have played the match until the end, because the risk of conceding more, when certain things happen, is very high. It’s a pity not to have returned to Milan with some points,” said Ranocchia.

According to the former defender, the coach “really did a great job, he was more than good. He fixed many situations, it wasn’t easy. And now he leads the Champions of Italy, a team that is getting stronger and stronger, growing season after season. For me, Chivu is the perfect coach for Inter.” On playing in Europe, he added: “No team faces one competition in one way and another in a different way. I believe Inter’s style of play should remain the same, after all, it has brought results. Last year in the Champions League it didn’t go well, but against Real these two technical errors made the difference, that’s all.”

The match was also affected by the mistake of Pepo Martinez. “He made a mistake that can happen. And after the 0-2, his performance was of a high level, mentally and in terms of attitude, he recovered. I don’t see a rivalry with Provedel. Positive words also for Alessandro Bastoni, who started the season well after a difficult year. “What happened to Alessandro was exaggerated and everything that happened around him lasted too long. Ranocchia believes in the Nerazzurri team’s chances. “Should Inter compete in every competition? For me, the answer is yes. The squad is strong, there are very strong players in every position, it’s hard to clearly establish who are the starters and who are not.
