Jones to Inter, the negotiation drags on: long timelines between risks and advantages

The negotiations to bring Curtis Jones to Inter have been ongoing for months, with timelines stretching well beyond initial expectations. It’s a deal reminiscent of what happened in the past with other Nerazzurri targets, from Djordje Spence, who eventually did arrive in Milan, to Mathias Palestra, who ended up at Chelsea.

According to Corriere dello Sport, it is probably just a matter of time before the Englishman passes through the gates of Pinetina. However, whether by choice or necessity, all operations involving the Nerazzurri club now take a long time.

This strategy can prove successful, as in the case of Spence, with Tottenham lowering their financial demands. But it can also be risky, as happened with Palestra: Chelsea managed to step in, upsetting the plans of both Atalanta and the player.

For Jones, however, the situation appears different. The midfielder has already turned down advances from Nottingham Forest, a clear sign of his willingness to wait for the Nerazzurri. It remains clear that the sooner he joins Chivu’s group, the better it will be for all parties involved.
