Serginho, former left winger of Milan, spoke to La Stampa about the derby in Milan scheduled for today in Perth, Australia. The former Rossoneri player emphasized how the city derby always retains its charm: “I think the derby always has its importance: even if it’s a friendly, even if it’s played in August. We know well the Milan-Inter rivalry, the players will certainly have a certain attitude, certain motivations.”

Regarding the upcoming championship, Serginho pointed out that Inter starts as the favorite, while also highlighting the importance of consistency throughout the season. “We still have to understand what the new season will be like, because Inter is the most prepared team and has just won the Scudetto, that’s true, but the championships are long and more than absolute potential, consistency counts.”

The former Rossoneri then referred to Milan’s last season, recalling the limits shown against mid- and lower-table teams. “Last year we lost the chance to stay at the top by dropping so many points in matches against mid- and lower-table teams. So, if it’s true that winning the ‘big matches’ boosts morale, it’s also true that being consistent is fundamental.”
