Inter is working on several fronts to complete the squad. After Dumfries’ departure, the club is looking for a winger, but that is not the only priority. According to Corriere dello Sport, the Nerazzurri’s transfer market is moving between opportunities and financial constraints.
Initially, around fifty million had been allocated for Palestra, with the go-ahead from Oaktree. The winger from Buccinasco was worth that amount, but the deal fell through and the budget was reduced to 25 million for Khalaili, another signing that was then abandoned for medical reasons. Now the focus is on Djed Spence from Tottenham and Givairo Read from Feyenoord. For both, at least thirty million would be needed, maybe even 40 for the Englishman.
The question that still remains unanswered is whether these figures are justified to replace Dumfries. In the meantime, a return to the past is not ruled out, with the reliable 37-year-old Ivan Perisic, who could be released from PSV Eindhoven for a small fee.
By saving on the winger, there would be more room for a defender. Initially, the reinforcement at the back was supposed to be Solet, to be brought to Pinetina on loan with an obligation to buy, but the deal did not go through due to doubts about his physical condition. Then there was also the withdrawal from Chalobah, due to costs being too high.
But what if it were possible to get Cristian Romero from Tottenham? The Argentine would be ready to return to Italy and the Spurs will not hold him back, even though they are asking between 45 and 50 million. The low-cost option could be 32-year-old John Stones, a free agent from Manchester City, who has already offered himself. At the back, if desired, it is not out of the question that only one addition might be enough if Pavard were to actually stay.
