After the first official withdrawal of Nicola Zalewski from the Polish National Team’s call-up list, yesterday two more Inter players were forced to return early to Appiano Gentile due to injuries. The first is Denzel Dumfries, forced to surrender due to a hamstring injury sustained during the second half of their winning match against Atalanta in Bergamo.
The second player is Marcus Thuram, also an Inter player who is not in his best condition. The Inter striker, as explained in an official statement from the French Football Federation, has not suffered an actual new injury, but has been struggling for several weeks with lingering ankle pain. Therefore, the French national team chose to allow the player to recover without forcing him into action.
Despite showing improvement in recent outings, the strong French center-forward has not yet fully overcome his ankle injury. Thus, confirming what had already emerged in recent days in France about the possibility to spare Thuram from the national team commitments, Deschamps decided to send him back to Italy.
