On Wednesday evening at 9pm, Inter will play against Milan in the Coppa Italia semi-finals, a Derby della Madonnina which is always very special, but which has brought few satisfactions for the Nerazzurri this season: between the two Serie A matches and the Supercoppa Italiana final, Inzaghi’s team has recorded one draw and two losses.
Today, the AIA has announced the official refereeing appointments for these Coppa Italia semi-final first-leg matches the other match being Empoli vs Bologna: the referee chosen for Milan-Inter is Michael Fabbri. He will be assisted by linesmen Preti and Baccini, and Ayroldi will act as the fourth official. VAR duties will be handled by Abisso, with the assistance of Di Bello.
This will be Fabbri’s first Milan derby in his refereeing career. He is one of the more experienced referees in Italy and has held international status since 2019. The Ravenna-based referee usually brings good fortune to Inter, since out of the 13 matches previously officiated by him, the Nerazzurri have won 10, drawn once, and lost only twice.
Fabbri was also the referee in the Coppa Italia quarter-final, which Lautaro Martinez and his teammates played against Lazio on February 25, ending in a 2-0 victory for Inter—a result that clinched their qualification to this double semi-final derby against Milan.
