One word to describe Inter‘s approach in this phase of the summer transfer market: calm. It was spoken by Piero Ausilio yesterday afternoon, upon arriving at the training camp in Donaueschingen, where the team is working under Inzaghi‘s orders. The sporting director joined deputy Dario Baccin in the Black Forest for an in-person discussion about the state of the market, an update also attended by Cristian Chivu, who was given the afternoon off after the efforts of the first days of training camp.
The Nerazzurri club is going through days of reflection after some setbacks in the transfer market. The club had firmly targeted Palestra, who, however, chose Chelsea. Subsequently, attention shifted to Khalaili, but the player did not pass the Coni fitness medicals. The replacement for Dumfries has not yet arrived.
According to Corriere dello Sport, Inter knows there is still a lot of work to do in this transfer window, but does not intend to be swept up by frenzy. The priority remains to strengthen the squad in the right way: if the signings are the right ones, even if it takes longer than initially expected, the Nerazzurri will still be satisfied.
