The heavy defeat suffered at San Siro against Inter has reignited controversy around Parma. Sandro Sabatini, speaking on YouTube, did not spare criticism for the Ducal club and coach Alberto Gilardino, retracing a match that was never in doubt.

The match was already over by halftime. The Nerazzurri took the lead by capitalizing on a serious build-up error between Corvi and Keita, with Sucic ready to take advantage. The second goal came from a penalty, converted by Calhanoglu after a foul by Diego Carlos on Esposito. The third was scored by Thuram on a counterattack, just before the break.

“I vented to Nicolò Schira during the match,” Sabatini recounted. “I said: ‘it’s all fine, Parma made a mistake letting Cuesta go, it was a wrong decision.’ Last year they sold Bonny and Leoni, making almost +100 on the market, and Cuesta secured safety two months early, you make another year +100 on the market and expect the team to do better… It doesn’t always happen.”

The journalist then pointed the finger at how the first goal came about: “They said Cuesta was anti-football, Gilardino comes in with playing out from the back, first pass from Corvi to Keita and Sucic comes in and scores. What are we talking about?” He was also harsh about the third goal: “The third is even more outrageous, Inter counterattacking across the whole pitch, where do you think you’re going? Gilardino, you need to save yourself, you don’t need to send videos to Coverciano.”
