Massimo Oddo gave an interview to La Gazzetta dello Sport in which he spoke about Davide Frattesi and his ability to be decisive from the very first matches of the season. The former footballer, who played for both Lazio and Milan, expressed surprise at the midfielder’s immediate impact.
“Did I expect Frattesi to be so decisive right away? Frattesi is an important midfielder who has always shown he can score a lot of goals. Maybe not three goals in three matches, but he is capable of making an impact,” said Oddo. The former player acknowledged the offensive qualities of the player, while admitting he had not foreseen such a prolific performance in the early games of the season.
During the interview, given ahead of Lazio-Milan, Oddo also addressed other topics related to the league. Speaking about Andrea Pinamonti and his move to Lazio from Sassuolo, the former player highlighted the difficulties of making the jump to a more important club: “It’s never easy to go from a club like Sassuolo to one much more important and historic like Lazio. In Rome the pressure is enormous and this will help him grow mentally. He is a very good striker, one of the few Italian centre-forwards: I believe he will make a leap in quality.”
Regarding the title race, Oddo gave a clear opinion about Lazio: “I think Lazio is more or less the same as last year and two years ago. In terms of technical quality, they are not at the level of Milan, Inter, Roma and Juventus. They can be an outsider and cause problems for the stronger teams, but they are not among the top four.” As for Milan, he preferred to reserve judgment, linking it more to the collective growth of the team rather than to individual players.
