Henrikh Mkhitaryan spoke to the journalists present in Donaueschingen before today’s training session, touching on various topics related to the Nerazzurri season and his personal future. The Armenian midfielder confirmed that he has decided to continue, but does not rule out the possibility of staying beyond this season.

“I spoke with the club only after the match against Bologna and then I made my evaluations and thought that I can play another year. This does not mean that I will stop after this season. We have to stay focused on this championship, then we will think about the coming years,” explained Mkhitaryan.

In terms of objectives, the Armenian did not hide his ambitions: “The ambitions are big, we want to win the league again, the cup, the Supercoppa and go as far as possible in the Champions. These are difficult goals, but achievable.” The reference to Milan was clear: “Not only against Milan, we were sorry not to be able to win against the other big teams, this is football. The important thing is having won the league, we play to win the Scudetto. This year we will try to win these matches as well.”

About Chivu, Mkhitaryan spoke with confidence: “He already showed last year what he can do and what he is capable of, we support him, we are a family and we want to achieve our goals. As for me, I expect a better Mkhitaryan than last year, I am here to help my teammates and achieve our goals.”

The veteran then reserved words of praise for the young players in training camp: “I was very satisfied, I was very impressed by the qualities of Massolin and how Stankovic has grown, but also by how Asllani has returned, who is calmer and has more experience. They will be a great help for us if they stay, I will be happy to help them, we are all fighting for the same goal.”

Finally, a mention of the generational change: “The difficult thing is that if last year there were Darmian, Acerbi, Sommer who were the same age as me, now I am the only one left at 37. It is not a burden, I know my abilities, what I can give to my teammates and I will do my best.”
