Josep Martinez analyzed the comeback victory of Inter against Napoli on the microphones of Sky Sport. The Spanish goalkeeper emphasized the importance of the mentality shown by the team on the night at San Siro.

“I am very happy with this victory. I believe it is a victory of character, we never gave up. We didn’t do well on Napoli’s two goals, but we take home the many positive things. It’s very important to get 9 points out of 9 before the Champions League,” said Martinez.

The Nerazzurri goalkeeper then delved deeper into the topic of mentality: “We work a lot on mentality, it’s very difficult to confirm ourselves and win the Scudetto again, there are so many teams, we saw Napoli two years ago. It’s not easy, everyone wants to play a great match against Inter. This has to be the mentality: even if we are two goals down, we must never give up, and I believe this was the key to the match.”

On his continuity of playing time, Martinez explained: “A player needs to play and have continuity to grow, I am happy with the trust I am receiving from the team and the coach. I think game by game, trying to improve, to learn, and to help the team.”

The goalkeeper then spoke about his relationship with Provedel: “I get along very well, he’s a good guy, but even in the past two years the group of goalkeepers has been very important. He works to give his best, so do I, and I think this competition is a positive thing to raise the level and for the good of the team.”

Finally, on growth prospects: “You can improve in all phases of the game: with matches I believe I will reach my highest level. After two years in which I didn’t have much continuity, I need a bit of time to adapt to playing every match. Continuity gives you confidence, makes you want to work, grow, and never give up.”
