Manchester United made an inquiry for Carlos Augusto last April. This was revealed by English journalist Ben Jacobs, who provided details about the matter during an appearance on The United Stand.
Before the opening of the summer transfer window, the name of the Nerazzurri winger was among those rumored to be leaving. The player, formerly of Monza, was seeking more consistency compared to the previous season. However, as the weeks went by, the situation seemed to settle: the Brazilian is set to have a more central role thanks to his versatility.
According to Jacobs, United did not limit themselves to monitoring Lewis Hall of Newcastle, but also made inquiries for Carlos Augusto. Both Roma and Atalanta also showed interest in his profile. However, the Nerazzurri club decided to keep him: his ability to play both as a center-back and as a winger makes him a valuable asset for the squad.
Meanwhile, the English club continues to evaluate younger profiles as well. Among them is Oliver Scarles of West Ham, according to the British journalist.
