Minutes before Manchester City-Inter, president Beppe Marotta discussed the match with Sky Sport and Prime Video. Here are his words:

SKY SPORT

I didn’t re-watch the final and I think it’s part of the past. We’ve learned the right lessons from that defeat. Today the context is completely different, we’re playing in front of their crowd and it’s the first match. We shouldn’t think about the match in Istanbul, but face them with the right personality required”.

The starting lineup? Matches now last 100 minutes. Who knows better than the coach who to put on the field? His choices are based on technical-tactical and physical evaluations. Let’s not forget that Lautaro has been very busy with the national team. We have a large squad and it shouldn’t be news who plays or not”.

“Market reforms? I agree. The market should go hand in hand with the start of the championship. We voiced grievances in the League that are sensitive to these things. I hope that from next year the market closure will coincide with the start of the championship. This would avoid inconveniences for the clubs”.

PRIME VIDEO

“A successful project? As managers, we were put in the position, even with the past ownership, to do a good job. Together with my colleagues, we’ve always been able to put together competitive squads and win many trophies. This is a great satisfaction”.

“Close to Haaland? When he was playing in Norway, it was suggested to us and when he was fifteen he even came to see Inter-Juve. Then bureaucratic difficulties didn’t let us close the deal. It’s part of the story of dealing with dozens of players like me”.

“This is a standalone match, we’ve learned positive experiences from Istanbul that have made us grow. We won the championship and we’re more mature. We have to face them with the right personality. Personality and determination will be key factors”.

“Is there a chance of winning the Champions League? Yes, of course”.
