According to La Repubblica, the crisis within the FIGC has led to a direct confrontation between president Malagò and minister Giorgetti. The meeting, which took place in the morning before 11, was initially focused on Milan Cortina and the Olympics dossier, but turned into the first real face-to-face on the issue of the commissioner.
The newspaper highlights that both presented their positions without holding back. Despite the tense relations between the two, the conversation ended cordially. However, their positions remain distant and it is not possible to speak of concrete openings. After months of silence and a missed meeting in May, on the occasion of the visit of IOC president Kirsty Coventry, the very fact of having them at the same table already represents a signal.
On the same day, Inter president Marotta went to Palazzo Chigi for an appointment with undersecretary Mantovano. Formally, it was not a meeting related to the future of the FIGC, but according to La Repubblica, the topic inevitably ended up on the table. In the evening, at the stadium, Malagò will be seated next to Abodi, another key figure in difficult relations in recent months.
