With the transfer of ownership from Suning to Oaktree in May 2024, Inter’s corporate issues clearly faded into the background compared to previous years. Good news for the Nerazzurri club, especially considering the repeated turbulence concerning the former Chinese ownership since 2020.
Among the initiatives launched to restore Inter’s financial health, there was also the creation of the InterSpac group, consisting of fans and personalities linked to Inter, led by economist Carlo Cottarelli. The idea, inspired by the German ownership model, understandably lost momentum with the arrival of the Oaktree era—but as former Inter player Beppe Bergomi revealed in an interview with Tuttosport, it has not completely disappeared.
These are the former Nerazzurri player’s words: I was also part of that group assembled by Carlo, and the WhatsApp group still exists and remains active. At the time, the Chinese didn’t even listen to us, but I think it could still be an interesting topic. Many supporters passionately love their clubs and willingly contribute in some way, holding a stake without it being decisive. And I think it can be helpful in difficult periods like this.
