The casting for the post-Sommer era has officially begun in the offices of Viale della Liberazione. The Swiss goalkeeper has entered the final year of his contract and is unlikely to be renewed by the Nerazzurri club due to his age, which is starting to become a factor. In fact, next December 17, the former Bayern Munich player will turn 37 years old.
At the same time, there are also concerns about the condition of Josep Martinez: the Spaniard, who arrived last summer to develop alongside the Swiss goalkeeper, was involved in an unfortunate accident in recent weeks in which an 81-year-old disabled man lost his life. Therefore, there is great uncertainty within Inter about the psychological consequences for the Spaniard, despite the strong support shown so far.
Hence, in any case, the need to find an alternative as soon as possible for next season, regardless of how the Martinez case evolves. As reported by Corriere dello Sport this morning, there are three profiles in the running on which Inter has long requested information, also following the directives of Oaktree.
The American fund, in fact, insists on searching for under-25 profiles who are already ready to become starters for an important club like Inter. The first names to emerge in recent weeks are Caprile from Cagliari and Atubolu from Freiburg, the former being 24 years old and the latter 23. The new entry in recent days from Serie A is Suzuki from Parma, also 23 years old. The Japanese goalkeeper has already accumulated considerable experience not only in the Italian league but also with his national team.
From Oaktree there is maximum willingness to put a significant investment on the table for Inter’s new goalkeeper, while still trying to stay within a budget of around 25 million euros made available to the executives.
