Inter ends the home games at San Siro in this calendar year 2024 with a great 2-0 victory against Como, matured in the second half. The goals by Carlos Augusto and Marcus Thuram made the Interisti fans present at Meazza in large numbers rejoice, despite the Serie A postponement to Monday evening.
As usual the day after the match, here on Passione Inter we look at five things we learned last night from Inter’s victory over Como in the last game at San Siro in the calendar year 2024.
1 Yesterday’s game against Como was a night where only winning mattered as it was a Serie A round in which practically all rivals won but also all suffering. Thus, this victory was important for Inter and it is also the fifth consecutive one in national competitions.
2 The Nerazzurri came into this match with a major defensive crisis that led Inzaghi to make forced choices in the back. Moving Bastoni to the center unfortunately takes away a vital source of play and in fact, Inter created very little on the left. Dimarco was almost invisible at the start when that is the flank that makes the difference in every game.
3 Como played well and surprised Inter a bit in the first half but then in the second half everything turned around and the match was unlocked once again with a corner kick scheme. Paradoxically, the major dangers for Como came after they went behind but victory was well deserved.
4 But what season is Thuram having? He joined Retegui at the top of the scorers’ chart and last night scored for the fourth consecutive game, which has never happened before in his career. The Frenchman has scored 20 goals in the calendar year and this is also a record. The shot he takes at the end for the 2-0 goal reminded many of Adriano’s conclusions.
5 The best player on the field – and who received the MVP award – was Carlos Augusto. Applause for the Brazilian who, in addition to the goal, also grows over the distance and made a save that basically counts as a double: his signature decisively marked the victory in both halves of the field.
