On Wednesday at 18:45, Inter will step onto the field for a challenging Champions League match, their first knockout-phase contest in this European campaign. In this round of 16, the Nerazzurri will face Feyenoord in a two-legged encounter, with a place in the tournament’s quarter-finals up for grabs.
However, Inter does not have positive memories of previous two-legged encounters against the Dutch side. There is, in fact, already a precedent from the 2001/02 season that certainly cannot allow Nerazzurri fans to sleep easy when recalling their team’s past clashes with Feyenoord in European competitions.
That year, the Dutch side eliminated Inter in the semifinals of the UEFA Cup, managing to secure a 1-0 win at San Siro in the first leg, followed by a 2-2 draw at home to clinch the final spot. These two matches are the only prior encounters in the history of the two clubs.
