According to Tuttosport, the French media expressed mixed opinions about Andy Diouf after the match between Belgium and France in the Nations League. The journalists from across the Alps appreciated the Inter player’s ball control skills, but noted some shortcomings in his defensive phase.
The match statistics, however, tell of a Diouf who was determined and anything but shy, eager to stand out. The player played 90 minutes, completing 63 passes out of 67 attempted (94%), with one successful dribble out of two, four progressions, eleven tackles, six defensive contributions, three recoveries, and two touches in the opponent’s box.
In detail, the player touched the ball 91 times, making him the third player in the entire match for balls played, behind only Lacroix (104) and Da Cunha (97). It now remains to be seen whether on Friday, in the match between France and Italy, Diouf will be deployed again as a full-back or if Truffert, who started from the first minute against Turkey, will return in his place.
