At the end of the match between Inter and Torino, valid for the first matchday of Serie A, the Nerazzurri coach Cristian Chivu commented on the victory to the microphones of DAZN. Here are the impressions of the Romanian coach after the resounding 5-0 victory in the debut match of the 2025/26 championship:

VICTORY – “I am happy for the boys for what they put in tonight and the work done in the last 3 weeks. They accepted important workloads and it was a new situation for everyone, with a very short preparation after the Club World Cup. We tried to be at our best for this start of the season. For the aggressiveness and mentality they showed, I would say we did a great job.”

CELEBRATION ON THE FIRST GOAL – “I am happy because set pieces are the work of Angelo Palombo and my staff who prepare the matches. I was happy for Bastoni’s goal and also for Barella who provided the assist, I was satisfied for everyone because it was the first match and in the end it went well. Cameras? I hope they don’t hear me when I say a few swear words and I’ll try to say them in Romanian so you don’t understand (laughs, ed.).”

OFFENSIVE SOLUTIONS – “On paper it’s simple but then you need the right mindset and legs to do well. Today everyone responded very well and I’m also happy for Sucic’s debut, who played a great match. Bonny, in his first at San Siro, immediately scored. Things went well but there is work to be done to understand the moments of the match, when you can press more and when you need to sit deeper. Today everyone responded well and I’d say they had plenty in the tank.”

PRESSURE AFTER LAST SEASON – “I’m dealing with great champions who want to leave behind what happened at the end of last season, which in the end wasn’t so bad. Champions always find motivation and the drive to get back to doing what they did before, we have to be ourselves and have the ambition to start well in our league. Favorite? Whoever wins the championship is always the favorite.”
