In the latest episode of Viva El Futbol, Antonio Cassano once again sharply criticized Inter’s coach Simone Inzaghi. Alongside Daniele Adani and Nicola Ventola, the former Italian national team striker commented on the recent encounter between Napoli and Inter, using very strong words directed at the Piacenza-born manager.
Here is Cassano’s view: I did not see a competitive game, rather I saw one team, Napoli, trying to win from start to finish, and Inter almost winning without even shooting on target—only one exceptional technical move from Dimarco during the entire match. Napoli deserved the victory, showing resilience even against setbacks and injuries; yet Inter, despite being the strongest team, didn’t manage a shot.
The former player’s main criticism towards the Inter manager relates to tactical decisions: Inzaghi made a mess out of the situation when Dimarco got injured. First, he put Dumfries on the left, then Bastoni along the flank, and finally Mkhitaryan—causing unbelievable confusion. Now I am even more convinced he cannot manage any formation other than the 3-5-2. […] Inter really disappointed me, negatively, despite their absentees. With the strong squad you have at your disposal, you should already be ten points clear. They even struggled against Genoa.
