A telling statistic about the Turkish midfielder’s touches in the first 33 minutes of Inter-Udinese: as reported by Tuttosport, in fact, the former Milan player seemed totally out of the match in the first part of the game and managed to touch the ball only five times.
Too little for someone used to being involved in all his team’s plays and dictating the tempo of every action with his feet. In this sense, a lot of credit must also go to Udinese, who were able to limit his range of action, thus depriving Inter of their main playmaker. But even Calhanoglu himself, on the only real scoring chance that came his way in the second half, wasted it with a powerful but inaccurate shot.
