In the DAZN studios, Christian Brocchi — former midfielder, now coach — analyzed Inter‘s victory over Bologna, judging Yann Bisseck‘s defensive behavior very harshly on the occasion of the rossoblu goal. “Bisseck makes a truly glaring mistake: either you go aggressively on the man or you close off the inside, but instead he leaves a highway open. It’s a worse mistake than the ball lost by Luis Henrique,” he declared.
On the penalty awarded to the Nerazzurri, Brocchi had no doubts: “I already said it live, it’s a penalty: there was contact and at that speed it’s a penalty.” He then framed the team’s overall performance within a team logic: “You find Inter’s completeness and strength in these dynamics: coaches often say that those who come on make the difference for better or worse in a balanced situation.”
Ample space was given to the journey of Carlos Augusto, starting from his arrival at Monza. “When he arrived at Monza he had to discover a new world: he struggled to defend but when he started running he had something different. The first year was an up and down due to his adaptation: but his desire to improve and this athletic dominance stood out,” he recounted.
Brocchi then revealed a behind-the-scenes story related to that transfer window: “We were looking for a left-back and we talked about Dimarco and Carlos Augusto. For Dimarco it was a bit difficult, so Antonelli said that a strong player would arrive and Carlos Augusto was an incredible surprise. He made the leap in the second year, he settled in much better: he understood the way of playing and now he has become very good at defending too. Even as a center-back he is a top-level player.”
In closing, Brocchi confirmed his faith in the Nerazzurri’s European ambitions: “Inter remains like this, they will go forward with strength because they strongly believe they can play an important role: and I think they can do it. The goal for me is to go all the way there.”
