The excellent form of Inter under Cristian Chivu continues as they win 0-4 against Union Saint Gilloise and remain unbeaten in the Champions League. Three wins out of three for the Nerazzurri team, who have not yet conceded a single goal in these first European outings and fly to the top of the standings.

Below, as always, we offer you some observations and insights that you may have missed while watching this Union SG-Inter match of the 3rd day of the Champions League. Here are five of them.

1) Twelve shots in the first half for Union Saint-Gilloise, who started strong and put Inter under pressure, causing them some difficulties. In some ways, it might have seemed like last year’s match against Young Boys, which was then decided by Thuram in the 93rd minute and ended with 19 shots each for Young Boys and Inter. That was also a very makeshift Inter with Arnautovic and Taremi up front: Thuram’s entrance was needed. This time, Inter ran riot by keeping calm, raising the tempo at the right moment, and scoring with four different players. This Inter has many men and ways to score and an attack that is definitely more reliable in its alternatives, which are also very well-coordinated.

2) Last night it was nice to see such a strong celebration with Pio Esposito thanking Bonny for a 0-4 at the end of the match. Just over a month ago, as Ambrosini said, we saw Thuram not celebrate after scoring the lead goal at Juve’s stadium. Chivu’s electroshock was evident and did a lot of good.

3) Last night, a controversy arose live on our channels. We were attacked, with people saying that Zielinski had a great game while Frattesi was terrible. Zielinski was interesting in a double playmaker role with Calhanoglu – who had a great game – and grew into the match. Excellent with 97% successful passes and two beautiful through balls as an attacking midfielder that show his quality. But for a player of his caliber (and the expectations we have of him), that’s the minimum against such an opponent. And for playing as a mezzala, Frattesi’s contribution was clearly higher. Certainly more intermittent, but Frattesi won 5 out of 8 duels. Zielinski 1 out of 7, and Frattesi created two great chances: the breakaway with a dribble in the chance missed by Pio Esposito and then the movement on Sucic’s through ball. The Polish player therefore needs to raise his level a lot to do important things in a Chivu-led Inter that looks for central through balls, and that’s where we need quality. If you settle for this from Zielinski, it’s not good enough, and the same ambition as Chivu is needed.

4) Bisseck’s hand is not punishable. There were some protests about the touch immediately before Dumfries’ goal, but it’s regular, as analyzed in our VAR review. However, Bisseck needs to improve with those arms and not always take these risks.

5) Conte’s words quickly made the rounds on the web. He’s struggling, and managing three matches a week is tough. Since the three matches a week started, Napoli has ALWAYS conceded goals. The Azzurri arrive wounded for Saturday’s direct clash with Inter. Will being favorites on paper be a good thing for Chivu’s team? Or could it be even more dangerous?
