In an interview given from the Polish National Team’s retreat, Piotr Zielinski revealed some football transfer market behind-the-scenes. The Inter midfielder, who arrived for free last summer after his contract with Napoli expired, admitted to having been courted by numerous top European clubs before accepting the Nerazzurri’s offer.
Speaking to Kanał Sportowy, Zielinski named the clubs that had sought him: Liverpool, Arsenal, Atletico Madrid, Juventus… I got specific requests from Barcelona. But I like Italy. When I arrived at Napoli, I was happy, it would have been difficult for me to go to England, for example. I would have considered Spain, but the priority was to continue my career in Italy.
Despite the goodbye at no cost, the relationship with his former club is more than good: Today I am at Inter, but Napoli too is a great club and I would have been happy to extend the contract. Now I have arrived at a great club, where they don’t leave you wanting for anything. In Milan a player has everything he needs, he just has to think about playing.
Lastly, Zielinski admitted he had quite a few difficulties during his first days training with Inter: The first 3-4 days of testing were tough, the preparation period was probably the hardest since I arrived in Italy.
