Ivan Zazzaroni felt the need to intervene personally after the controversy sparked by an article about Cristian Romero. The director of the Corriere dello Sport used his Instagram channels to clarify the news published by the sports daily, which became the center of discussion among Inter fans.
The matter concerns the gap between the actual content of a transfer news story and the interpretation generated by an overly emphatic headline. The executive explained the reason for his intervention: “No approach to Inter: I have the duty to clarify this, since after the publication on our website of a news item—correct, by the way—about Cuti, all hell broke loose in my direct messages.”
The Argentine center-back is a profile appreciated by the Nerazzurri club, but reporting a concrete approach created expectations far from the reality of the facts. Any potential deal presents significant obstacles: the figures requested by Tottenham, the overall valuation of the player, and the defender’s financial demands make the deal extremely complex.
“Blame it on a headline that I would call ‘doped’ by the heat, for which I apologize,” admitted Zazzaroni. The player represents a top-level target for his technical qualities, personality, and international experience, but Spurs maintain high financial demands. The player’s salary requests are also, at present, incompatible with Inter’s parameters. Furthermore, the defender himself seems to be leaning towards a move to La Liga rather than Serie A.
