After receiving full approval from Paolo Vanoli, Marko Arnautovic remains the top transfer target on Torino’s list. Moreover, due to the expiry of his contract at the end of the season, Inter would even be willing to let the striker go for free, provided that the Granata club takes on the responsibility of paying his wages for the final six months.
However, it’s precisely this financial aspect that is currently slowing down the finalization of the deal between Torino and Arnautovic, as explained by Tuttosport this morning: “The Austrian has an annual salary of 3.5 million net plus bonuses the same gross amount, over the next 6 months. In addition, by still being part of the squad, he can boost his bank account with the bonus tied to the team’s placement in Italy and Europe. To leave in January he would have to find a club willing to buy him as per the regulation for players with expiring contracts: loans are forbidden, offering him an 18 month contract.”
This is precisely why Cairo has not yet made an official offer to the Inter’s striker: “Torino, all things considered, could only offer a net of 2.7 million for a year and a half at most: certainly not an attractive figure for the Austrian, given the possibility for him to secure a multi-million dollar contract as a free agent in the USA or Arabia in 6 months. Thus, after a series of indirect inquiries, Vagnati has already put on the brakes: there’s no point in making a concrete proposal, as of now, if it’s already known it will not meet his expectations.
