Twist from England: Inter still thinking about Dibu Martinez

The trail leading to Guglielmo Vicario as the post-Sommer option now seems to have faded, but apparently Inter continues to look to the Premier League for a goalkeeper. Today’s Corriere dello Sport reports that news is still filtering in from England about a certain interest from the Nerazzurri management in Emiliano ‘Dibu’ Martinez, the experienced Argentine goalkeeper who already seemed destined to leave Aston Villa a year ago, a club that in the meantime is very active on the market searching for another shot-stopper.

According to the newspaper, alongside the rising odds for the promotion of Spaniard Josep Martinez to the starting role, Inter’s transfer team is looking for an established goalkeeper and one possibility leads to Provedel from Lazio, but the other Martinez would guarantee charisma, experience, and competitive grit that would also be very useful for a step up in Europe. “Clearly, it would not be an easy operation and not just for Inter, considering that the World Cup is also involved,” concludes the newspaper, which also mentions a valuation of 20 million euros for the 1992-born goalkeeper.
