The fact that Inter has decided to focus on Marco Palestra is now quite clear. The profile of the winger owned by Atalanta convinces everyone: young, Italian, and with the prospect of becoming a “new Bastoni” or “new Barella.” Not in terms of characteristics, of course, but as a prospect of value and importance within the team.
The first transfer summit that took place two days ago between Cristian Chivu and the management confirmed the total appreciation for the player. Inter‘s intention is to make a strong move for him, but there is also a detail to consider that could completely change the Nerazzurri’s strategy.
How is Inter’s negotiation for Marco Palestra progressing?
The main concern regarding the investment in Palestra, in fact, concerns Denzel Dumfries. A player of European caliber, fundamental for his characteristics as well as for the numbers he has accumulated over the years (more than once, according to the data, he has been Inter’s third top scorer after the attacking duo). On the one hand, rumors of a departure to the Premier League have been circulating for at least three years, but on the other hand, he remains a central player in the current Nerazzurri squad.
The doubt would therefore concern the coexistence between a Dumfries and a Palestra, which would require space both for growth and to justify the significant investment. The aforementioned detail is as follows: from what has emerged, Chivu also sees Palestra as an excellent left winger playing on his opposite foot. This scenario would change many things: firstly, it would allow the youngster to have two positions in which to fit in, thus having more space and facilitating rotations between him, Dumfries, and Dimarco. Furthermore, on the left flank there is greater uncertainty regarding the future of Carlos Augusto, who has made more solid financial and playing time requests and is currently in full negotiations with Inter.
