Inter has finalized the deal for John Stones. Yesterday, the Nerazzurri club made a decisive move, overtaking the competition and securing one of the most interesting free agents of the summer transfer window. The English defender had long been on the club’s radar, with the first contacts dating back to last March, when he was first proposed. The player and his entourage knew that the expiring contract with Manchester City would not be renewed, as reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport.

The deal was concluded quickly after obtaining the player’s approval. Stones chose the Nerazzurri, allowing the club to strike and leave Juventus behind, who were also following the thirty-two-year-old. Napoli, Arsenal, and Chelsea were also interested in the defender. Inter’s offer includes a two-year contract worth 4 million euros per season, a significant investment for a player over 30 who, however, has won 20 trophies with the Citizens.

The green light came without much delay. The defense led by Cristian Chivu is preparing to welcome the English international, a free agent after ten successful seasons in Manchester. Another addition from the Premier League for the defensive department, coming from the very club that almost a year ago sold Manuel Akanji to the Nerazzurri, who immediately became a key player for the defense of the future champions of Italy. The Nerazzurri environment hopes that Stones can guarantee the same impact. The defender has won every club trophy but does not feel like a satisfied player.
