With the now finalized arrival of John Stones at Inter, the track leading to Cristian Romero has slowed down. According to Gazzetta dello Sport, the financial demands made by Tottenham and the player himself have led the Nerazzurri management to focus on the English defender, who became a free agent after leaving Manchester City.
The agreement on wages with Stones was reached quickly, while the deal for the Argentine became complicated. The club’s choice fell on the experienced player available on a free transfer, who guarantees immediate quality to the defensive department.
With this addition, the defense can be considered settled. Benjamin Pavard remains in the squad, and his continued presence could prevent further moves in the department. The Frenchman’s salary, amounting to 5 million euros, weighs on the budget and the club would not mind finding a solution.
Until an adequate offer arrives for Pavard, the defender will remain available to the Nerazzurri backline.
