As revealed by la Repubblica, there was only one name that could have changed the fate of Inter’s bench, after Fabregas’s refusal. That name is José Mourinho. The Portuguese coach was sounded out by intermediaries for a sensational return.
The Special One, for his part, would have been ready to return to Milan, as the newspaper further reports, but what held everything back were the very onerous clauses contained in his contract with Fenerbahce.
