The Argentine center-back Cristian Romero finds himself at a market crossroads. The Tottenham defender is waiting to understand the intentions of Barcelona before making a final decision about his future.
According to Mundo Deportivo, the Blaugrana sporting director Deco appreciates the profile of the former Atalanta player, but so far no official offer has arrived from the Catalan club. Atletico Madrid remains the club most advanced in the race for the player, having been working for some time to bring him to the Spanish capital.
The Colchoneros have already submitted an offer of around 30 million euros, a figure that does not satisfy Tottenham’s demands. The Spurs value the defender’s card at around 40 million euros. The gap between supply and demand is therefore about ten million, while contacts between the two clubs continue.
Romero has not yet given the final green light to the deal with Atletico Madrid. The center-back would first like to verify whether Deco’s interest could materialize into a real offensive from Barcelona.
Atletico therefore remains in pole position, but the possible entry of the Blaugrana could quickly change the balance of the negotiation. Inter now seems to be on the sidelines of the deal.
