Romero to Inter, agreement with Tottenham: Chivu's priorities

The agreement between Inter and Tottenham for Cristian Romero has been reached on the basis of 40 million euros. The deal, according to Tuttosport, appears close to completion, although some details with the player still need to be defined. The Argentine defender is asking for 6 million euros including bonuses, an amount currently considered excessive by the Nerazzurri management.

The distance between the parties, however, does not seem such as to jeopardize the operation. The main risk concerns timing: Romero is on the market and several major European clubs are aware of his availability. The Inter management wants to avoid reliving a situation similar to the one experienced with Palestra, when excessive waiting led to a final disappointment.

In terms of priorities, Chivu has indicated two main objectives to the club: the purchase of a winger and the arrival of Curtis Jones. This order of urgency complicates the situation for Oaktree, because securing Romero would mean giving the green light to a major operation before having completed significant sales.

On the Moussa Diaby front, the Nerazzurri remain interested with an offer of 18 million plus the transfer of Asllani. The club continues to work on several fronts, trying to balance investments with the coach’s tactical needs and the budget constraints imposed by the American ownership.
