Atletico Madrid has overtaken Inter in the race for Cristian Romero. According to the English portal TEAMtalk, the Colchoneros are now in pole position for the Tottenham defender after reaching an agreement with the player.
The Spurs captain is said to have accepted the offer from the Spanish club based on a four-year contract. The salary proposed by Atletico would be in line with what Romero currently earns in England.
The Nerazzurri had reached an agreement with Tottenham for the transfer, but had not yet managed to obtain the final go-ahead from the Argentine center-back. Negotiations between Atletico and Spurs are progressing positively, with all parties confident that the deal can be concluded.
The London club does not intend to accept an offer lower than the one agreed with Inter, but according to TEAMtalk, Atletico Madrid is getting closer to Tottenham’s financial demands.
