The negotiations for Cristian Romero have entered a delicate phase. According to the Corriere della Sera, the Argentine remains the main target for the Nerazzurri defense, with an agreement already reached with De Zerbi‘s club on the basis of a fee between 35 and 40 million euros.
The main issue concerns the salary requested by the player, which is considered high. The management on Via della Liberazione now faces a choice: strike immediately or wait first for the sale of Benjamin Pavard. A wait-and-see strategy that, however, risks proving counterproductive.
The market does not allow for too much time to reflect. Just as Inter is weighing its options, Atletico Madrid has decisively accelerated for the defender. The Colchoneros are preparing the final assault: Cholo wants him strongly and the possibility that Romero heads to Spain is becoming increasingly concrete.
