The future of Tomas Palacios now seems set far from Inter. According to Tuttosport, the Argentine central defender is destined to remain in his homeland after his loan to Estudiantes, a club that will proceed with the permanent signing of the 2003-born player.
The agreement reached at the end of January 2026 provides for a loan until the end of the year with an option to buy set at around 6.5 million euros. The Nerazzurri did not include a buy-back clause, but secured a percentage on the player’s future resale.
Palacios‘s performances in Argentina are confirming expectations: he has made 30 appearances, 29 of them as a starter, culminating in his debut with the senior national team. A growth path that makes the exercise of the option to buy by Estudiantes almost a foregone conclusion.
His experience at Inter had proved disappointing: just 3 actual appearances and 26 times on the bench over two seasons. The loan move represented a turning point for the centre-back, who regained consistency and confidence. Estudiantes could try to cash in on the investment as early as 2027, given the interest from several clubs in the player. Only time will tell if his departure will be a regret for the Nerazzurri.
