Napoli is preparing to intervene in the January transfer market to strengthen the midfield, a department severely tested by numerous injuries. Among the names considered by the Azzurri management is also that of Davide Frattesi, currently playing for Inter.
As reported by Il Mattino, sporting director Manna was still in Milan yesterday, busy exploring various opportunities. At the top of the wish list for the Neapolitan club remains Mainoo, a young midfielder from Manchester United. The Englishman, born in 2005, played just one minute in the last Sunday match with the Red Devils, a situation that could open up transfer scenarios.
The possibility of a loan would satisfy both clubs, but the player has already shown some resistance to the idea of being used as a bargaining chip. Contacts with the player’s entourage have been reactivated in recent weeks and the negotiation is neither completely open nor definitively closed. Napoli should not even have to modify the squad lists in the event of the young Englishman’s arrival, given his age.
In addition to Mainoo, other alternatives remain on the table. Among these is Magassa, who also plays in the Premier League, and Frendrup, who has long been of interest to Ausilio. The track leading to Frattesi, however, remains for now just a suggestion. At the moment, none of these options have taken concrete shape: they will only be considered by Napoli if the main target slips away.
