Lookman-Inter, Ausilio REVEALS: “We remained faithful to…”

For many weeks, the last summer session of the transfer market in Serie A remained almost completely “paralyzed” due to the negotiations between Inter and Atalanta regarding Ademola Lookman. The Nigerian player did everything he could to try to move to Milan, but the Percassi family always blocked everything.

Inter tried for a long time, without giving up, but at a certain point Beppe Marotta and Piero Ausilio had to change strategy. In fact, the Nerazzurri sporting director, in his interview today with Corriere dello Sport, reveals why the club’s management chose not to sign another striker in place of Lookman.

These are the words of the Nerazzurri sporting director regarding the decision to change plans after Atalanta’s refusal: “We tried, believing it would allow us to change something. But Atalanta was unyielding. The growth of Pio and Bonny allowed us to change our objective and remain faithful to the 3-5-2.”
