The negotiations for Djed Spence could heat up in the coming days. According to Tuttosport, Inter intends to resume talks with Tottenham after the third-place playoff at the World Cup, which will see England face France. Monday is the day set to resume contact with the London club.
The English winger represents the ideal profile to replace Denzel Dumfries, with a significant advantage: the ability to play on both flanks. This versatility appeals to Cristian Chivu, who is waiting for reinforcements on the wings during the training camp in Germany. In the first contacts last Tuesday, Tottenham indicated a valuation between 35 and 40 million euros for the player.
However, performances at the World Cup could drive the price up, bringing it closer to 40 million. Additionally, some Premier League clubs are gathering information on Spence, who is considered likely to leave Tottenham, which can count on Porro, Udogie, and the new arrival Robertson for the flanks.
It remains to be seen whether Oaktree will give the green light for such a significant investment. After careful consideration, the Inter management recently decided not to pursue Chalobah, who is now set to join Como, precisely because Chelsea’s 35 million asking price was considered excessive for the defender. Spence has a similar starting price, but due to his age and potential, he fits the profile favored by the American ownership.
The player has already given his approval for the transfer, attracted by the possibility of returning to Italy after his brief spell at Genoa in 2024. Should the deal fall through, management would turn to more affordable alternatives: Read from Feyenoord, Vanderson from Monaco, and Belghali from Verona remain more accessible options compared to Douè, who is valued at 35-40 million by Strasbourg.
