L’Inter is looking for reinforcements in defense and midfield, but sales are needed

Inter has just under three weeks before the season opener against Monza. The squad needs reinforcements both in terms of numbers and quality, while Ausilio and Marotta are tasked with finding solutions for surplus players. An intense August of work awaits the Nerazzurri management.

Chivu publicly highlighted, after the match with Manchester City, the lack of a right winger. After the departure of Dumfries and unsuccessful negotiations for Palestra and Khalaili, the coach is left without a player for that flank. Among the profiles considered, Diaby has re-emerged in recent hours, already close to the club in January. The club is analyzing the costs and characteristics of various candidates.

The focus is not limited to the wing. In defense and midfield, Romero and Jones are liked, both being followed with interest. The club could close a deal for at least one of the two in the immediate future, but first, the outgoing transfers need to be completed.

On the sales front, in addition to the likely loan of Massolin, Asllani, Frattesi, and probably Pavard still need to be sorted out, despite the Frenchman’s attempts to stay in Milan. For years, offloading surplus players has been a weak point for Inter’s management, with operations often less than optimal and situations dragging on for a long time. The goal is to sort everything out by the end of the month to allow Chivu to have a complete squad. As the coach reiterated, to raise the level, quality players are needed.
