The rehabilitation process for Domenico Berardi has been longer and harder than expected. Over the past few months, Berardi has been recovering from a severe Achilles tendon injury he got during the second part of last season. The Sassuolo striker has finally returned in the last round of the Serie B Championship against Cittadella, immediately making an assist within fifteen minutes of the game.

However, in January, Berardi may leave Sassuolo for good to return to Serie A and chase his dream of playing in the Champions League, as admitted by him this morning in La Gazzetta dello Sport: Until I was 26-27, I didnt feel mature. You see, I always want to play and in those years, I rejected the idea of rotation and sitting on the bench. Maybe it was also a lack of confidence in my abilities, I didnt believe in myself 100%. I wanted to be a starter always and that cant happen in a big club. I have no regrets, but in the meantime, Ive grown, matured, and for the last two or three years, Im ready for another adventure.

FAREWELL SASSUOLO – Three years ago, Atalanta wanted me, but I said no because I didnt consider myself suitable, particularly from a physical standpoint, for that type of play. Last year, I wanted to go to Juve, but the clubs did not agree. It hurt me, I had a dispute with the club because it was the right time. But then I turned the page and started giving my all for Sassuolo again.

READY FOR A BIG TEAM – For the past three years, always. I want to hear the Champions League theme music on the field. Its a deep ambition, which I want to fulfill.

FAREWELL SASSUOLO – If in January, after these months with Sassuolo, Im 100% and the right offer comes up, Ill leave. Otherwise, if Im not at my best yet and need to play to regain my best condition, Ill stay here until June. Well evaluate with the club, as always.
