The experience of Mauro Icardi at Galatasaray has come to an end. After four seasons with the Turkish club, the Argentine striker has decided to terminate the relationship with immediate effect, thus becoming available on the market as a free agent.

The former Inter player now represents a concrete option for Serie A. According to Gazzetta dello Sport, the striker’s profile could interest some Italian clubs, precisely because it would not require any transfer fee. The free agent formula reduces the costs of the operation to just the salary component.

However, the salary issue remains. In his three seasons with the Turkish club, Icardi earned 6 million euros net per year. Any potential move to Italy would require a financial sacrifice from the player, as often happens for profiles arriving in the Italian league from contexts with higher salary parameters.

At the moment, there are no concrete negotiations, but being available as a free agent makes the Argentine a name to monitor for clubs looking for an attacking reinforcement without committing resources for a transfer.
