First offer from Inter for Romero: loan with obligation to buy

Cristian Romero has given his consent to the transfer to Milan. The Argentine defender from Tottenham has declared himself willing to wear the black and blue shirt, strengthening Inter‘s position in negotiations with the English club.

According to Orazio Accomando of Sportmediaset, the management has made an initial offer to the Spurs based on a paid loan with an obligation to buy. The total operation would amount to around 40 million euros, a formula similar to the one previously used for Manuel Akanji and which would allow the investment to be spread over several seasons.

Tottenham values the defender at at least 50 million euros, an amount higher than the black and blue offer. Inter does not intend to go much beyond its own valuation, but could include easily achievable bonuses to bring the parties closer together.

The player’s approval is a decisive factor. Romero would gladly return to Serie A and in Milan he would be reunited with his national teammate Lautaro Martinez, as well as having a central role in the technical project. The clubs will soon meet again to check the margins for an agreement. Inter intends to move quickly to avoid the involvement of other teams interested in the Argentine center-back.
