The situation surrounding Denzel Dumfries has now become a full-blown intrigue. What initially seemed like a minor ankle injury has turned into something much more serious that doesn’t seem to want to leave the Dutch winger alone. It’s been over a month since the match against Lazio, in which the player suffered the bad sprain, yet there is still no sign of an imminent recovery on the horizon.

In fact, according to what was written this morning by La Gazzetta dello Sport, Dumfries should miss the Italian Super Cup next week and only return to the field in 2026. The pain in his ankle persists and therefore does not allow for any certain predictions about when he will be available again for Cristian Chivu.

In addition to the injury, it doesn’t seem to be a peaceful moment for the Dutchman off the field either. As also reported by the pink newspaper, Dumfries has in fact decided to leave super agent Jorge Mendes, whom he had turned to not too many months ago. According to rumors, the Dutchman has joined the stable of Anglo-Iranian Ali Barat.
